Growing Glencairn-Marlee Study

Development & Construction

The City of Toronto is currently studying the area surrounding Glencairn Subway Station and Marlee Avenue as part of the Growing Marlee–Glencairn Study, a planning process that will help shape the future of the neighbourhood for decades to come.

On April 30, 2026, the City hosted a Public Open House at West Prep School to present an emerging plan for the area, including proposed directions related to land use, building heights, parks and public spaces, mobility, and community infrastructure. An online survey was also made available as part of Phase 3 of the study process.

A key component of the study is the identification of the boundaries and planning framework for the Glencairn Major Transit Station Area (MTSA). Under both provincial and municipal policy, MTSAs are intended to accommodate increased growth and density in areas served by higher-order transit in order to support transit investment and optimize the use of existing infrastructure.

The outcome of this study will have a significant impact on the future character, scale, and function of the neighbourhood.

We encourage residents, property owners, businesses, and community members to stay informed, review the study materials, and continue participating in the process as the City moves toward a recommended plan and policy framework.
